e0a2f00f95 fix(metadata): stop reporting x- extension keys in .openspec.yaml as unknown (#2063)
* feat(metadata): x- extension keys in .openspec.yaml are not reported as unknown

Teams that keep tool data beside a change (a tracker id, a goal id, an owner) had no
place for it: since 1.14.0 every unrecognized top-level key is a validation warning,
so validate --strict fails. Keys that start with x- are now extension metadata, as in
OpenAPI: never read, never written, never reported. Every other unknown key is still
reported, and the warning now names the x- prefix as the way to keep such data.

Refs #657

* fix(metadata): accept any x- name, and say so when a key just misses

The extension grammar was narrower than the contract above it. The doc
comment said "the prefix is the whole contract, as in OpenAPI's x-
extensions", but the pattern was `/^x-[a-z0-9][a-z0-9_-]*$/`, so the
spellings teams actually write were still reported:

  x-jiraKey warned x-a- accepted
  x-trackerID warned x-foo_bar accepted
  x-Owner warned

`x-jiraKey` is the obvious key for the tracker case in #657, and it failed
`validate --strict` while a trailing-hyphen name passed. Worse, the new
remediation sentence told that user to "prefix a key with x-" - which they
had done - so the warning became a dead end with no way out from the
message alone. That is a worse experience than the warning this PR removes.

The name after the prefix is now the owner's business: `/^x-\S+$/`. Empty
and whitespace-carrying names stay rejected, the latter because whitespace
would let a key forge a second line in the warning output.

The prefix itself stays lowercase, keeping this PR's deliberate
`X-goal -> false`. That is the one near-miss a user cannot diagnose from
the old message, so the message now names both conditions it does not
cover, and only when a reported key actually starts with the prefix.

Also pinned the round-trip, which was the risk worth checking: archive
moves `.openspec.yaml` rather than rewriting it, and `writeChangeMetadata`
only ever writes a new file, so extension keys survive today. But
`ChangeMetadataSchema` is not passthrough and strips them, so the first
read-modify-write caller would silently delete data a team put there.
A test pins the stripping and the writer's doc comment now says to merge
`x-` keys back from the raw YAML.

Documented the namespace in docs/cli.md next to the other metadata keys,
since `x-* (yours)` in a directory-tree comment could not carry the rule,
and flipped the changeset to `patch` to match the `fix` retitle and the
#2020/#2028 precedent.

Verified end to end: a change with `x-jiraKey` and `x-Owner` passes
`validate --strict`, while `X-Tracker` beside a `taskss` typo reports both
and explains the prefix. 6413 tests pass; lint clean.

* refactor(metadata): merge the stacked writeChangeMetadata JSDoc and trim extension-key comments

- writeChangeMetadata had two consecutive /** */ blocks, orphaning the first;
merge them into one that keeps the params and the x- key stripping caveat.
- Trim the EXTENSION_KEY_PATTERN comment to the contract, dropping the
history of the earlier grammar and the inaccurate claim that whitespace
could forge a warning line (reported keys are already sanitized).
- Tighten the changeset to the user-facing behavior.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* test(archive): keep x- extension keys byte-for-byte through archive

Archive is the only path that touches an existing .openspec.yaml; it moves
the file rather than rewriting it. Pin that, and that archive --json emits no
unknown-key warning for x- keys.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* docs(metadata): document x- extension keys in the docs-lab reference

The canonical change-metadata reference still said every unknown top-level
key is reported and fails --strict. Add an Extension keys section (name
rule, ignored value, top-level scope, strict result, archive) and point
the Validation bullets at it.

Pin each documented claim where it is enforced, not only in the helper:
the validator passes --strict on x- keys with any YAML value, still fails
on X-Tracker, a bare x- and "x- tracker", and loadChangeContext (status,
instructions) returns no warning. All three tests fail on main's code.

4c56264b79 docs(community): add OpenSpec Review and OpenSpec Compact on SkillGild (#2094)
* docs(community): add OpenSpec Review and OpenSpec Compact on SkillGild

Follows up on #2046, which was closed because a hosted copy of a core
skill adds nothing beyond the CLI. These two do: review links for people
who don't use OpenSpec, and compaction of main specs across a project.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* docs(community): say that the review link is its access control

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* docs(community): list OpenSpec Review and Compact under Hosted services

Moves the entry into the Hosted services section and keeps only what the
CLI does not already do: show --diff covers per-requirement diffs and
validate flags placeholder Purposes. States what each skill uploads,
that Compact's similarity is lexical, and that install needs the
SkillGild CLI.

Clay GoodandClaude Opus 5.5 3fea2a96b2 fix(workflows): check removed requirements against their baseline, unblock the glob new-file flow (#2083)
* fix(verify): read a removed requirement's baseline before searching

Since #1962, verify inverts the check for `## REMOVED Requirements`: it
searches the codebase for the removed behavior and passes when nothing is
found. But a REMOVED block carries only the requirement name plus its
`**Reason**` and `**Migration**` notes - the parser takes names and nothing
else - so the search started from the heading alone. An implementation that
used different vocabulary from the requirement title read as a clean
removal, and because absence is the passing result here, the report showed
a silent pass.

The RENAMED branch immediately below already loaded its baseline from the
main spec first. Give REMOVED the same treatment: read the requirement's
body and scenarios from the main spec before searching, and search for that
behavior.

A removal needs one step a rename does not. Archive deletes a REMOVED
requirement outright, while a rename is retitled in place, so after a sync
there is no baseline left in the main spec to fall back on. Recover it from
repository history instead, and when it cannot be recovered at all, report
Spec Coverage as not verified for that entry rather than counting it as
passing.

Closes #2067

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(update): state the glob new-file exception on the scope guardrail

The guardrails of /opsx:update contradicted step 4. The first scope bullet
said to edit only the concrete files in `existingOutputPaths`, and a file
step 4 creates to fill a gap under a partly written glob artifact is by
definition not in that list. The exception sat two bullets below, so an
agent applying the stricter blanket rule refused the very operation the
glob-gap flow exists to perform, and the missing spec went unfilled.

State the exception on the bullet carrying the stricter rule, where an
agent reading it will see it, and leave the confirmation and path checks
where they already live in step 4.

Closes #2068

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(workflows): harden the removed-baseline and glob-scope guidance

Adversarial review of the two preceding commits found one real bug, one
half-applied fix, one stale spec, and a test guard with no teeth.

The history fallback did not work. `git log -p -- <capability-path>/spec.md`
omits the `openspec/specs/` prefix that `<capability-path>` is defined
relative to, and `git log` reports an unmatched pathspec as success with no
output. An agent following it literally saw silence, concluded the baseline
was unrecoverable, and marked every already-synced removal not verified -
so the recovery path the fix advertised could never once succeed. The
command is now `git -C <planningHome.root> log -p --
openspec/specs/<capability-path>/spec.md`, anchored on the planning home
because the capability may live in a store rather than the current
checkout, and the text now warns that empty output means the pathspec
matched nothing.

Three further gaps in the same branch. A baseline that only restates its
own title gives an agent no more vocabulary than the heading did, so it is
now unusable evidence like a missing one. The not-verified bail-out moved
ahead of the search, because it previously sat two bullets after the rule
saying that finding nothing is expected. And a miss in the main spec is no
longer attributed to an earlier sync alone, since a differently-worded
baseline misses a literal title lookup.

Step 6 claimed each REMOVED entry "is checked there against its baseline
behavior" in the same breath as the branch that may not check it; it now
excepts an entry marked not verified. The scorecard models the
not-verified wording too, having offered only confirming phrasing.

The #2068 fix was applied to the guardrail but not to step 2, which states
the same scope rule two steps before the exception appears - the same
reading order that caused the bug. Both sites now carry it, and the
guardrail says "any" confirmed path rather than "the one", matching a step
4 written per gap.

`openspec/specs/opsx-verify-skill/spec.md` still described the old
behavior, its Removed-requirement scenario carrying none of the clauses its
Renamed sibling has, so the accepted spec sanctioned the silent pass. It
now mirrors the template, as #1962 did for the preceding fix.

Tests: the ordering assertion compared two unguarded `indexOf` results, so
a reworded sentence would have made it pass on -1 and retired the only
structural guard in the change. Indices are now checked present first, the
fallback is pinned between the primary read and the search, the negative
guards match reworded re-introductions rather than one exact sentence, the
scope-rule check sweeps the whole body instead of a tail slice that could
not see step 2, and the git command and the "(step 4)" cross-reference are
pinned. All 20 of the hardened assertions fail against the two preceding
commits.

* fix(verify): quote the planning root in the history fallback command

An unquoted `git -C <planningHome.root>` splits on spaces, so the
fallback failed for any planning root with a space in its path.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(verify): read history from the planning root, not the repo root

`git show <rev>:<path>` resolves the path from the repository root,
not from `-C`, so the fallback failed whenever the planning root is a
subdirectory (a monorepo package or a store inside a larger repo). A
leading `./` keeps the path relative to the planning root.

4e490dfac3 docs(community): add Entalpa (#2081)
* Add Entalpa project to community resources

* docs(community): describe Entalpa without editorializing on OpenSpec

The entry claimed Entalpa derives "the stakeholders, stories and open
questions the format has nowhere to keep" - a judgement about OpenSpec's
format rather than a description of the tool, and the showcase asks
entries to avoid promotional claims.

Reworded to say what a reader gets: it reads a public repository's
`openspec/specs/` through the GitHub API and builds a browsable view, and
the derived layers are labelled as inferred (the site's own framing, which
matters because they are not in anyone's spec files).

Kept both disclosures the guidelines require, and added the read path and
the public-repository limit as plain facts rather than as the reason for
the AI-provider disclosure.

Verified: the linked page resolves, carries no tracking or referral
parameters, claims no affiliation with or endorsement by OpenSpec, and
states "Public repositories only, read through the GitHub API. We never
write to yours." `docs/community.md` is not published to the docs site,
but README.md links it directly, and PR #2062 keeps that link.

* docs(community): use American spelling in the Entalpa entry

* docs(community): list Entalpa and MySpec under Hosted services

Adds a Hosted services section for products that add an OpenSpec
capability the CLI does not provide, states that rule under Add your
project, and corrects the Entalpa entry: the 300-requirement import cap,
paid credits for AI features, the export back to openspec/specs/, and
the canonical /en/openspec link.

Clay GoodandClaude Opus 5.5 7acf282050 fix(artifact-graph): reject brace nesting deeper than 16 levels (#2061)
* fix(artifact-graph): reject brace nesting deeper than 16 levels

braces <=3.0.3 (GHSA-vfj7-8cjw-p6xm, no patched release) can exhaust the
stack on deeply nested patterns, and schema `generates` / `apply.tracks`
globs reach it through fast-glob. Reject glob patterns nested more than 16
levels before any path or glob work, document the limit in docs-lab, add it
to the artifact-graph spec, and update the pnpm audit exception note.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(artifact-graph): count nesting the way the braces parser does

The guard decremented on every `}` and ignored parentheses, but braces
treats `[...]` and quoted runs as literal and nests `(` groups in the
same tree it walks recursively. So `*{a,[}]...`, `*{a,"}"...`,
`*{a,(}...` and `*{a,b}((((...))))` passed the 16-level guard and still
nested arbitrarily deep inside braces. Mirror the parser's block stack
instead, with tests for each bypass.

Also:
- Move the limit into its own requirement, so it no longer lengthens the
State Detection requirement (which is already over the 500-char strict
warning on main), and name apply.tracks too.
- Reword the changeset: the guard stops the stack overflow from the
advisory; it does not stop every malformed schema from crashing (wide
sibling brace groups can still exhaust memory, a separate issue).

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(artifact-graph): quote only the start of a rejected deep pattern

A pattern deep enough to hit the guard can run to thousands of
characters, and the error printed all of it.

1bce87f858 fix(archive): warn when a delta holds text archive will not carry (#2054)
* fix(archive): warn when a delta holds text archive will not carry

Archive copies requirement blocks into the main spec and nothing else. A
delta's other sections (## Constraints, ## Notes, ## Acceptance Criteria),
text above its first ## header, and prose before the first requirement in
ADDED or MODIFIED were dropped with no warning, while validate --strict
passed.

The delta reader now records where that text starts. validate reports it
as a WARNING with its line, and the archive merge warns for each one.
Behaviour is unchanged: the text is still not carried. ## Purpose and
REMOVED/RENAMED bodies are excluded, and a stray ### header keeps its
existing INFO note (#498). HTML comments are ignored.

* fix(archive): find delta sections outside HTML comments when reporting dropped text

A header inside a multi-line comment no longer starts a section for the unapplied-text check, and a comment closed with --!> no longer masks the rest of the file.

* fix(archive): read delta sections exactly as the merge does

The unapplied-text check split sections from comment-masked lines, but
the merge splits on raw lines. A backticked `<!--` in a title plus a
later `-->` hid `## ADDED Requirements`, so a carried requirement was
reported as dropped and `validate --strict` failed. The reverse case
(a commented-out `## Notes`, or an unterminated `<!--` in a code
sample) dropped text without a warning.

Split sections from the raw lines the merge reads, and use comment
masking (outside fences only) just to decide whether a line holds text.
The changeset now says these warnings fail `validate --strict`.

* ci: test Node 22 and 24 while keeping the Node 20.19 floor

Raising engines.node to >=22.0.0 would break everyone still on Node 20
(Yarn 1 and engine-strict installs refuse outright) and would also claim
support for Node 22.0-22.12, which @inquirer/* and mute-stream do not
support (they need ^22.13.0). Dropping Node 20 is a separate, breaking
decision, so keep engines at >=20.19.0.

Instead, keep every OS on the 20.19.0 floor and add Linux jobs for the
Node 22 and 24 LTS lines, so CI now covers what most users run. Only the
floor job uploads coverage, since duplicate artifact names fail the upload.
Also fix the dev container README, which still said Node 20 after the
image moved to Node 22.

76d49a1d81 perf(completion): keep Tab completion off telemetry and heavy imports (#2064)
* perf(completion): keep Tab completion off telemetry and heavy imports

Shell completion scripts run `openspec __complete <type>` on every Tab
press. Each press loaded 344 modules (zod, yaml, fast-glob, ora) and, with
telemetry on, waited for the usage request before exiting.

- Skip the telemetry and completion-tip hooks for `__complete`. The
scripts send stderr to /dev/null, so the first-run notice would also be
marked seen there without anyone reading it.
- Load `ora` only in install and uninstall, which use the spinner.
- Load `listSchemas` from the resolver inside `getSchemaNames` instead of
through the artifact-graph barrel, which also pulls in fast-glob.

Completing changes or specs now loads 48 modules (commander only), and
schemas loads 219. Part of #2026, items 1 and 2.

* test(completion): pin the privacy fix, the skip's narrowness, and zsh's redirect

The change is sound - completion output is byte-identical on all four
types, the hook skip matches the command path exactly, and all four
generated scripts discard `__complete` stderr. What was thin was the
coverage around it.

The startup assertions pin that `telemetry/index.js` is not loaded. They do
not pin the consequence that makes this worth doing. The disclosure goes to
stderr, every completion script sends `__complete` stderr to /dev/null, and
`maybeShowTelemetryNotice` marks `noticeSeen` before `trackCommand` re-reads
it - so a user whose first-ever interaction was a Tab press had the notice
burned where nobody could read it and collection started on that same
press. A new e2e test runs `__complete` with telemetry left enabled and an
isolated HOME, and asserts stderr is empty and no config file is written.

Two traps in that test, both of which made it pass vacuously before they
were fixed. `HOME` has to be isolated as well as `XDG_CONFIG_HOME`, or
`migrateLegacyTelemetryConfig` imports the developer's real config. And the
opt-out variables must be deleted rather than set to `''`: both read as
"set to anything that is not an explicit on-value", so blanking them
switches telemetry off and the assertions then hold on any build. Verified
against main, where the test now fails on the notice appearing in stderr.

Added a negative control, because nothing asserted that normal commands
still reach the hooks. `isTabCompletionRun` matches exactly, while the
adjacent `isCompletionRun` prefix-matches `completion:*`; widening one into
the other would silently stop tracking that whole group with every existing
assertion still green.

The zsh generator was the one shell whose test did not pin the stderr
redirect, though it has the most call sites and is the macOS default. It
now checks every real invocation, skipping the comment lines that name the
command without running it.

Also made the schemas test say what its name promises: it now pins that the
resolver loads and the artifact-graph barrel does not, since the barrel
re-exports the same function but pulls in fast-glob.

6414 tests pass; lint clean.

eb315c9d75 docs(openspec): update 3 requirements to match the code (#2065)
* docs(openspec): correct 3 requirements that the code has outgrown

- cli-archive/confirmation-behavior#6: Changed the confirmation default from No to Yes and updated the prompt indicator to [Y/n].
- schema-resolution/resolve-schema-with-updated-precedence-order#7: Reordered the precedence list to place project config before planning-home default.
- telemetry/first-run-telemetry-notice#5: Updated the exact one-line notice text to include the additional opt-out method using 'openspec config set telemetry.enabled false'.

None of these reduce what a requirement demands.

Scanned at 9111a7654d by openai/gpt-5-mini-2025-08-07.

* docs(openspec): make the corrected requirements internally consistent

The drift corrections were right about the code but left three requirements
half-updated.

`schema-resolution` had its precedence sentence reordered to put project
config ahead of the planning-home default, which matches `createChange`
(`config?.schema ?? defaultSchema`, where `defaultSchema` is the planning
home's). Five scenarios still asserted the old order, so the requirement
and its own examples disagreed. They now read in the corrected order, and
the two that turn on it say explicitly that project config wins even when
a planning-home default applies.

`cli-archive` kept "default to Yes **for safety**" after flipping the
default, which is self-contradictory: Enter now accepts the spec update, so
the cautious answer is the one that takes typing. It now says Enter
proceeds and declining needs an explicit "n".

That scenario's sample prompt also showed `Update 2 specs and archive
'<id>'? [Y/n]:`, a string the code has never produced. The actual prompt is
`Proceed with spec updates?` (src/core/archive.ts), rendered `(Y/n)` by
`readYesNo`. Correcting only the bracket hint would have left the example
wrong in a way a reader cannot check against the CLI.

The telemetry correction needed nothing: its new string matches
`src/telemetry/index.ts:216` byte for byte.

`openspec validate --specs` passes, 36/36.

90c95c2a23 fix(archive): allow symlinked openspec/changes and specs (#2052)
* fix(archive): allow openspec/changes and specs to be project-owned symlinks

archive refused a changes or specs directory that is a symlink resolving
outside the project root. Allow such a link when its parent is inside the
root and it resolves to an existing path, and still require archive/ to
stay within the changes directory.

Fixes #2050

* fix(archive): verify archived deltas through a symlinked changes directory

verifyArchivedDeltas measured the canonical delta source path from the
non-canonical change directory, so with openspec/changes symlinked it
looked for the archived delta at a wrong relative path and failed the
final-move check. Measure from the canonical change directory captured
before the move. Add tests that archive a spec delta with changes, specs,
and both symlinked.

* fix(archive): also accept a symlinked openspec/ directory

Every other command already works when the whole openspec/ directory is
a project-owned symlink, but archive still refused it: changes/ was
checked against the project root, and changes/ itself is not a link in
that layout. Check each level against its parent instead, so openspec/,
changes/ and specs/ may each be a link while archive/ must still stay
inside changes/.

Tests now use junctions on Windows instead of skipping it, and cover an
archive/ that escapes a linked changes/ and the cross-device move
fallback through a linked changes/.

## 1.14.2
### Patch Changes
- [#2052](https://github.com/Fission-AI/OpenSpec/pull/2052) [`90c95c2`](https://github.com/Fission-AI/OpenSpec/commit/90c95c2a235e0d4088006a879c19cd1febff2a9e) Thanks [@drakeo338](https://github.com/drakeo338)! - ### Bug Fixes
- **Archive accepts `openspec/`, `openspec/changes` or `openspec/specs` as a symlink** — `openspec archive` no longer refuses a project-owned symlink that points to another directory, such as a shared docs repository. An `archive/` directory that resolves outside the changes directory is still refused.
- [#2061](https://github.com/Fission-AI/OpenSpec/pull/2061) [`7acf282`](https://github.com/Fission-AI/OpenSpec/commit/7acf282050c0b2a27bd18f30c48fbcc0986bfc45) Thanks [@clay-good](https://github.com/clay-good)! - ### Bug Fixes
- **Guard against deeply nested brace patterns** — An artifact `generates` or `apply.tracks` pattern that nests braces or parentheses more than 16 levels deep is now rejected with a clear error before glob matching, so a schema cannot overflow the stack through the unpatched `braces` advisory GHSA-vfj7-8cjw-p6xm.
- [#2086](https://github.com/Fission-AI/OpenSpec/pull/2086) [`9cb5ba8`](https://github.com/Fission-AI/OpenSpec/commit/9cb5ba8cec4bc47227dcac4974a74b4adf1819f6) Thanks [@clay-good](https://github.com/clay-good)! - ### Bug Fixes
- **Explore no longer offers to write default-schema files under a custom schema** — The explore workflow's "where to capture" table and example offers now say they describe the default spec-driven schema. With another schema, the agent captures each insight in an artifact that schema defines, names it in the offer, and never creates a file such as `design.md` that the schema does not have.
- [#2064](https://github.com/Fission-AI/OpenSpec/pull/2064) [`76d49a1`](https://github.com/Fission-AI/OpenSpec/commit/76d49a1d8176ad2bdb3696e29c4ffe222402f2da) Thanks [@ryandemelo](https://github.com/ryandemelo)! - Shell Tab completion is faster. `openspec __complete`, which the completion scripts run on every Tab press, now loads 48 modules instead of 344 when completing changes or specs, and no longer records usage, so a press never waits on the telemetry request and can't use up the first-run telemetry notice where nobody sees it. Completion output is unchanged.
- [#2083](https://github.com/Fission-AI/OpenSpec/pull/2083) [`3fea2a9`](https://github.com/Fission-AI/OpenSpec/commit/3fea2a96b2e04e01097f4617573734c47a57589b) Thanks [@clay-good](https://github.com/clay-good)! - The update workflow now states the glob new-file exception at both places that state the scope rule (step 2 and the guardrails), not only where the rule is restated. It said to edit only the concrete files in `existingOutputPaths`, while the file step 4 creates to fill a gap under a partly written glob artifact is by definition not in that list, so an agent applying the blanket rule refused the operation the flow exists to perform.
- [#2083](https://github.com/Fission-AI/OpenSpec/pull/2083) [`3fea2a9`](https://github.com/Fission-AI/OpenSpec/commit/3fea2a96b2e04e01097f4617573734c47a57589b) Thanks [@clay-good](https://github.com/clay-good)! - The verify workflow now reads a REMOVED requirement's baseline from the main spec before searching the codebase for it. A REMOVED delta block carries only the requirement name plus its Reason and Migration notes, so the search started from the heading alone - and because finding nothing is the passing result for a removal, an implementation written in different vocabulary read as a clean removal. When the baseline cannot be recovered from the main spec or that file's history - including a baseline that only restates its own title - Spec Coverage is now reported as not verified for that entry and the search is skipped, instead of passing.
- [#2054](https://github.com/Fission-AI/OpenSpec/pull/2054) [`1bce87f`](https://github.com/Fission-AI/OpenSpec/commit/1bce87f858c2591b2cb58108597ae6f0a9bb5d7c) Thanks [@runsonmypc](https://github.com/runsonmypc)! - `openspec validate` and `openspec archive` now warn when a delta spec holds text archive does not carry into the main spec: a `## ` section other than Purpose and the four delta sections, text above the first `## ` header, or prose before the first requirement in ADDED or MODIFIED. That text was dropped without notice before. Like other validation warnings, these fail `openspec validate --strict`. What archive carries is unchanged.
- [#2063](https://github.com/Fission-AI/OpenSpec/pull/2063) [`e0a2f00`](https://github.com/Fission-AI/OpenSpec/commit/e0a2f00f95731af7cf22a30c2c4a8b7ff910b509) Thanks [@gkinter](https://github.com/gkinter)! - Keys in a change's `.openspec.yaml` that start with a lowercase `x-` (for example `x-goal: G-12` or `x-jiraKey`) are now treated as your own extension metadata: OpenSpec no longer reports them as unknown, so `openspec validate --strict` passes on a change that carries them. Any other unrecognized key, including `X-Tracker` or a bare `x-`, is still reported.

A top-level key that starts with a lowercase `x-` is yours, for data another tool or your team keeps beside the change, such as a tracker id or an owner:

Welcome. This is the home for everything OpenSpec.
OpenSpec helps you and your AI coding assistant **agree on what to build before any code is written.** You describe the change, the AI drafts a short spec and a task list, you both look at the same plan, and then the work happens. ## Projects and resources
- **[OpenSpec Workbench](https://github.com/VeryComplexAndLongName/OpenSpec-UI)**: Running and supervising agents on OpenSpec changes.
- **[MySpec](https://myspec.dev)**: Cloud beta (account required) that conducts guided spec interviews and exports four-file bundles or OpenSpec-compatible changes. The service sends submitted content to third-party AI providers and is not designed for sensitive data.
- **[openspec-guard](https://github.com/guillaume-flambard/spec-guard)**: CLI and GitHub Action that reports which OpenSpec scenarios are covered by a Vitest or Jest test, without running the tests.
## Hosted services
Hosted products that add an OpenSpec capability the CLI does not provide. Each entry states its account, payment, and data-handling terms.
- **[MySpec](https://myspec.dev)**: Cloud beta (account required; free tier, no credit card) that conducts guided spec interviews and exports four-file bundles or OpenSpec-compatible changes. Its MCP server (`@myspec/mcp-server`) and [Claude Code plugins](https://github.com/myspecs/claude-plugins) let coding agents read those specs, write OpenSpec changes, and implement them task by task. The service sends submitted content to third-party AI providers and is not designed for sensitive data.
- **[Entalpa](https://entalpa.com/en/openspec)**: Imports a public GitHub repository's `openspec/specs/` (up to 300 requirements) into a browsable project, adds stakeholders, stories and open questions labeled as inferred, and exports the result as an `openspec/specs/` tree; it never writes to the repository. Importing and reading need no account; saving or editing needs one, and AI features use paid credits. Imported content is sent to third-party AI providers.
- **[OpenSpec Review](https://skillgild.dev/skills/openspec-review) and [OpenSpec Compact](https://skillgild.dev/skills/openspec-compact)**: Hosted skills from SkillGild for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI or any MCP client. Review publishes a change as a link where anyone holding it can approve, request changes or comment per requirement without an account, shows the main spec as `openspec archive` would write it, and flags requirements that other open changes also touch. Compact finds lexically similar requirements and repeated scenarios across main specs and writes the cleanup as an OpenSpec change. Requires the SkillGild CLI and a free account (25 runs a month per skill). Both send spec content to SkillGild's servers, which run closed-source code and make no AI model call; Review also sends the proposal, design and tasks, and keeps the change for 30 days.

- If that file holds no such requirement under this or a near-equivalent name - for example because an earlier sync already applied the removal - recover the baseline from the same file's history, in the planning repository rather than the current directory: `git -C "<planningHome.root>" log -p -- openspec/specs/<capability-path>/spec.md`, or `git -C "<planningHome.root>" show <commit>^:./openspec/specs/<capability-path>/spec.md` once you have identified the commit that applied the removal.
