Exact constructions (literals, slice, concat results) round their request to 16 bytes before the size class, so arrays of 2, 4 and 6 slots get one spare slot and an append right after a copy no longer reallocates. Arrays of 8-byte slots with their own storage and no sparse entries grow below the dense cutoff on a path with a constant slot size, and dense copies of 8-byte slots use a constant size.
